June has, so far, been full of playing catch-up after a really big change: I moved. It’s a fantastic move that makes me happy and happens to also save me money. While the packing and the still ongoing unpacking have kept me too busy to write or even read much of anything outside of work, things are finally starting to settle down. Among the many great things about my new living situation is a new workspace. Since “office” felt too formal for the room housing my desk, art supplies, books and video games, it is currently known as “The Escape Room.” Submissions for a better name are welcome.
However, with the new digs come the new challenges. My new home is further away from the job, and it requires more upkeep. So, instead of making any headway in my TBR pile or writing, I’m adjusting to a new schedule. Just give me a few more weeks and I’ll hopefully be able to start pretending that I have it all figured out. For now, I’ve got a new casual project started to help me unwind from work/home repair/the small heard of vocal animals I live with: a gaming blog.
It’s just starting out. Nothing fancy going on. No idea what I’m going to do with it. For now, it’s just going to be a fun outlet for me to talk about the games I play without having to worry about getting strange looks or scaring people off with the game lore archived in my brain. If you take video games very seriously, Switzy Games might not be the place for you. I don’t create mods, I don’t devise perfect strategies, and I don’t do things right a lot of the time. But if you think games are cool and you’re not going to get bored of reading about things like how my insecurity about my career prompted me to escape into video games, that’s cool. Go check out that other blog. Maybe even follow it. That would be really nice of you to do.
But if you’re just here for the writing news, then here’s an announcement: this blog has undergone a change, too. You probably didn’t notice. Since the gaming blog is called “Switzy Games,” I went ahead and changed the name of my writing blog to “Switzy Writes.” I’ll give you some time to process this complicated shift in things before I post more writerly content.
